The three story 5000 square foot building sits on a large lot on the southwest corner of The Alameda at Marin, surrounded by mature conifers and a history garden with fruit orchard grafted from 400 year old pear and apple trees, abundant roses and other flowers.

Statement of Purpose
The center will be a non-profit resource institution, a facility, an educational center: in short, a home base for the community (local, regional, national, and international) of professionals and promising students devoted to the historically informed performance of music of the sixteenth, seventeenth, eighteenth and early nineteenth century (1500 to 1850).
- EDUCATIONAL CENTER FOR:
- Workshops, seminars and colloquies for the community outside academia involved in historically informed performance. The center will focus especially on nurturing music teachers as well as their students and families. A regular activity will involve bringing children and their families to a living history experience.
- The investigation of the role of HIP in contemporary life. This investigation could take the form of special events open to the public such as panels and seminars inviting successful contemporary composers, social scientists, philosophers, art dealers, etc; in short, a forum for the recognition of the question of the relevance of this kind of expression of the human condition in our world today.
- FACILITY (SPACE) FOR
- Collection of instruments to be donated to the center which would be available for loan or rent at a modest sum to qualified people; which would be regularly maintained by the Center. The instruments would include harpsichords of all types and nationalities, fortepianos, organ and all other appropriate instruments such as lutes, baroque violins, etc. The center would also welcome donations of prints, paintings, and drawings depicting performers.
